COLUMBUS, Ohio - Cpl. Mark A. Camp, an automatic rifleman with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, receives the Silver Star Medal at a ceremony here Aug. 20. Camp received the medal for his actions in Iraq, which saved the lives of at least three Marines. COLUMBUS, Ohio - The family of Sgt. David N. Wimberg is saluted after being presented with the Silver Star Medal on Wimberg's behalf during a ceremony here Aug. 21. Wimberg was killed while deployed in Iraq. COLUMBUS, Ohio - Hunter Youngblood, son of fallen Petty Officer 3rd Class Travis L. Youngblood, a hospitalman with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, holds a shadowbox prosented to him by the Marines of the company Aug. 21. The Silver Star was originally established at the direction of President Woodrow Wilson as a "citation star," as provided in section 5 of War Department General Orders Number 6 on January 12, 1919. The reverse of the Silver Star decoration reads, "For Gallantry in Action."
