28 Jul 09 From: Commanding Officer To: All Hands Subj: EQUAL OPPORTUNITY (EO) POLICY Marines & Sailors, 1. One of the hallmarks of this battalion is that we are a team and a family, built on mutual trust and respect for each individual in the unit. We will reflect this in all that we do. While we strive to build a cohesive fighting unit we must also take care of and foster each individual within the battalion. 2. My Equal Opportunity policy is this: we will treat each other with respect and dignity. This Battalion will provide all Marines & Sailors equal opportunity and I am committed to providing an environment that encourages this. 3. I will not tolerate any conduct that is motivated based on age, color, gender, race, religion, or national origin. Moreover, as the individual responsible for everything this Battalion does or fails to do, I will ensure that any and all discrimination is actively pursued and removed from the unit. 4. Every Marine & Sailor must understand that they can safely communicate within their chain of command to address any potential unfairness in this area. Know that this is a confidential process that will be taken seriously and dealt with promptly. 5. The Battalion’s Equal Opportunity Advisor (EOA) is GySgt Figueroa, of the Communications Platoon. The referenced Marine Corps Order may be obtained from him or from the official Marine Corps website. 6. Let us continue with our professional endeavors, training Marines & Sailors by taking care of and respecting each other.
Semper Fidelis LtCol Anthony E. Lanza
