Lieutenant Colonel Mann was born in Burbank, California in 1970. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1987. Lance Corporal Mann served as a cannon crewman with 5th Battalion, 14th Marines until receiving an NROTC scholarship in 1989. He was honorably discharged from enlisted service as a Corporal, USMCR.

Unit History

1st Battalion, 25th Marines was originally established in Boston, Massachusetts as an infantry company in the early 1920s. It was not until some years later that the unit attained battalion status.

The sounds of grunting and the stench of sweat permeates the air in the USS Nashville (LPD 13) well deck most afternoons. The Marines aboard are staying fit and keeping their mission of training host nation security forces in the forefront by regularly participating in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP).

THIES, Senegal —Marines with Marine Advisor Team (MAT) came ashore Feb. 3, making their way to Thies Military Reserve in Thies, Senegal, in support of Africa Partnership Station (APS) Nashville.

Gunfire, hip throws, and Military Operations in Urban Terrain were on the agenda for the last few days of seminars at the Thies Military Reserve in Thies, Senegal. Marines with Marine Advisor Team partnered with Senegalese Special Forces in support of Africa Partnership Station Nashville, an initiative allowing the exchange of techniques in order to promote an environment where host nations can build upon their maritime safety and security measures.
