First Sergeant's Corner

   

Gunnery Sergeant Kyle was born on April 5, 1968 in Lansing, Michigan. He enlisted into the Marine Corps’ delayed entry program on June 16, 1986. Arriving at MCRD, San Diego, California on June 14, 1987 he attended recruit training followed by School of Infantry as a 0311. After completion of his school, Private First Class Kyle was assigned to Fleet Anti Terrorism Security Team, Marine Corps Security Forces Pacific.  Private First Class Kyle was recognized and promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.  Lance Corporal Kyle served as a Team Leader and Squad Leader.  Lance Corporal was recognized and promoted to the rank of Corporal.  Corporal Kyle served as a Marksmanship Instructor during his tenure with FAST Company.

 

     In July of 1990 Corporal Kyle transferred to Camp Pendleton, California where he was assigned to Kilo Company 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines as a Squad Leader. Corporal Kyle deployed with Kilo Company for Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm and through the Cease Fire Campaign.  In May of 1992, Corporal Kyle was deployed to Los Angeles, California for Operation Peacemaker, during the Los Angeles Riots.

 

    In February of 1993, Corporal Kyle was assigned to Bravo Company 1st Battalion, 4th Marines as a Platoon Sergeant and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

 

     On June 15, 1993, Sergeant Kyle received an Honorable Discharge for his active service. He reenlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve on June 9, 1994 and was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Lansing, Michigan. On January 1, 1996, Sergeant Kyle was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  In February of 2003, Staff Sergeant Kyle was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Upon returning from Iraq, Staff Sergeant Kyle completed the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course.

 

     In October of 2004 Staff Sergeant Kyle was assigned to Alpha Company 1st Battalion, 24th Marines and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.  In March of 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Kyle volunteered for early activation for deployment to Iraq.  On September 15 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Kyle deployed to Fallujah Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom 05.07

 

    Gunnery Sergeant Kyle currently serves as an Instructor and Mentor for 4th Marine Division West, in order to train and prepare other infantry battalions for deployment to Iraq.  Gunnery Sergeant Kyle also currently serves as the Company 1st Sergeant for Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines.

 

    Gunnery Sergeant’s personal decorations include (1) Bronze Star Medal with the combat distinguishing device (1) Navy Commendation Medal, (4) Navy Achievement Medals, (2) Good Conduct Medals, (4) Select Marine Corps Reserve Medals, (2) National Defense Medals, (1) Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, (1) Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, (1) Arm Force Reserve Medal with an hour glass and “2” mobilization device, (3) Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, (1) Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and (1) Navy  Unit Commendation.

 

     Gunnery Sergeant Kyle is married to Tamara A. Kyle and has a step-daughter Jessica 14, a daughter Jo Hanna 11, and a daughter Olivia 7.
